Hippely, a jewelry designer and fine artist, has been actively involved with Wickham Works in building a support network for area makers. She has designed the logo for a new venture promoting makers and retail outlets that sell locally produced items during the holidays and beyond. The month-long Made Local initiative will kick off with a launch party at Wickham Works’ Holiday Market on Friday, Nov. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Wickham Woodlands Manor. The free event will showcase clothing, body care products, jewelry, blown glass ornaments, metal arts, leather and turned wooden goods, ceramics, holiday decorations and fresh wreaths, art made from reclaimed materials, and more. Shoppers will be able to enjoy seasonal brews from Pennings Farm Cidery, eat wood-fired pizza topped with locally grown ingredients from Emily’s Hearth, and listen to musician Mary Hood play songs from her new album. Throughout the holiday shopping season, stores and other retail outlets in the area that carry locally made products are encouraged to display the Love Local poster and decal. Anyone wishing to be added to the list of makers or retailers can go to wickhamworks.org.
